Multi-Family Addition
Jersey City, NJ

The scope of this design was to create an eight unit multifamily building from two adjacent two family houses. The existing first floors and basements, which were deepened to full height, were combined to create two four bedroom, three bath units. These units are accessed through the original front doors, retaining the essence of the existing buildings. The existing second floor alterations created two three bedroom, two bath units, and the two story addition created four two bedroom, two bath units, with balconies, on the third and fourth floors. Roof decks were designed for the use of the fourth floor occupants.

The area between the two existing buildings was designed as a vertical circulation core with a building entry for the upper units, two sets of stairs, and an elevator.
