Fire and smoke damage to this split level home prompted the opportunity for a new design of the living areas of the home. Walls between the former kitchen, dining, and living rooms were removed and the ceiling was raised, creating an open and inviting living space. The formally limited kitchen space is now open, with an island where a wall had divided the kitchen and living rooms. Two new bedrooms, with egress windows and window wells, were designed for the level below the living space.
